Budget 2024 must prioritise bold investment in cross-sectoral initiatives and capital infrastructure projects that reduce Ireland’s reliance on fossil fuels and deliver long term solutions to our shared climate and social justice challenges.
Community Law & Mediation’s pre-budget 2024 submission to government focuses on:
- Cross-sectoral initiatives that can deliver long term and targeted solutions for those experiencing energy poverty and housing problems, while also driving action on Ireland’s climate targets.
- Access to justice, specifically, the eligibility thresholds to access civil legal aid; resourcing of the Legal Aid Board; the proposed administrative scheme to provide for costs in proceedings relating to non-compliance with environmental law; and the Family Justice Strategy.
