Submission on pre-legislative scrutiny of the General Scheme of the Equality (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill
Ireland’s equality legislation is fundamental to people’s experience of living in a society and working with dignity.
Community Law & Mediation welcomes the proposed reforms in the General Scheme of the Equality (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill. However, the scope of the general scheme is narrow and there are some significant omissions. In delivering our services, CLM has encountered additional barriers in the equality legislation which prevent people from vindicating their rights and which we believe must be addressed through priority additions/amendments to the Bill. These are set out in our submission below.
