Submission to the Commission for Regulation of Utilities regarding the need for consistency with climate objectives in the development of a Large Energy Users (LEU) connection policy
Community Law & Mediation (CLM) recently wrote to the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) to address the need for consistency with climate objectives in the development of a Large Energy Users (LEU) connection policy.
CLM noted the obligation of the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) to exercise its decision-making power in a manner that contributes towards the achievement of climate goals under section 15 of the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act 2015 (as amended).
CLM does not consider there to be any overriding statutory requirements which circumvent this obligation.
To ensure data centres do not affect the State’s Carbon Budgets Programme, Community Law & Mediation made four recommendations to the CRU.
