Environmental Justice – Illegal Dumping

In April 2025, Dublin City Council commenced works to remove a 40,000-tonne illegal landfill at Darndale.

Local residents have campaigned for years and CLM’s Centre for Environmental Justice became involved more recently, working with residents to put pressure on Dublin City Council to take action on the site, highlighting the health and environmental hazards caused by burning waste, burned out vehicles, the presence of asbestos, rats and the fact that the illegal landfill continues to dominate the landscape just outside their homes.

We remain prepared to take further action as necessary to ensure that the site is fully and safely cleared and that the community’s rights are protected.
