What is Casebase?

Has your application for a social welfare payment been refused? Are you considering appealing the decision? Casebase can help.

Casebase is a free-to-access database of information on the types of appeals made to the Social Welfare Appeals Office and their outcomes. It is a useful resource for people who are considering appealing a decision on their entitlement to a social welfare payment; or for advocacy organisations who are assisting a person with an appeal.

The database includes (anonymised) information on more than 100 cases taken by Community Law & Mediation, other law centres and advocacy organisations. We continue to identify new cases and increase this number.

In developing the content of the Casebase database, every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate and up-to-date. However, the content of each of the case reports included in the database will reflect the legal position at the time of drafting. Community law & Mediation (CLM) gives no guarantees or warranties concerning the accuracy, completeness or up-to-date nature of the information provided in the Casebase reports and does not accept any liability arising from any errors or omissions. Errors or omissions brought to the notice of CLM will be investigated and amendments or corrections will be made as soon as practicable.
